  • Couple

The room was of a good size and the staff were very friendly and helpfull. Overall very good value for money. I have stayed at many places that were a lot worse and cost a lot more.

Nothing really. Very good value. I would stay again any time I am in the area.

  • Group of friends

Staff were courtesy. helpful and could not do enough for their guests.Needed to have ticket for a NFL game delivered to the hotel and they were accepted and handed to us on our arrival. Even when we returned in the early hours of the morning and did not have our room keys, when we contacted the manager he returned to the hotel quickly and gave us our keys. The breakfast was very good and the first night we availed of the dinner menu the range was extensive and suited everyones pallet.Could not recommend this hotel highly enough and the location is stunning and look forward to our next visit. Our sincere thanks to Mr Wood's and his staff for their kindness and help during our stay.

  • Older travelers

We were looked after well in the hotel, and made to feel welcome. The situation of St. Mary's Gate is excellent for exploring Arundel, being within walking distance, but not in the centre.

We were not originally allocated our requested type and position of room, but this was immediately corrected by the management, showing and giving us a choice of rooms.

  • Group of friends

The breakfast is a real country breakfast. Yummy!!!!

The building is over 300 years old so the bathroom could have done with a bit more renovating. The shower is good and you can see that the owners have tried to do their best with uneven floors and walls.

  • Family with children

The hotel presented really well. The staff were accomodating, the breakfast good but the lingering memory are the bad matresses and pilows which could be easily fixed.

The mattresses and pillows were in very bad condition in both rooms.

  • Older travelers

close to castle and car parking. nice town. good sized room

we stayed in the four poster room and the wall between us and next door room was so thin that we even had to tune ino the tv prog they were watching and turn down our sound as we could hear everyhing next door. certainly not what you wish when you want a romantic weekend. it was hard to even go to sleep. next door was not unduly noisey. the walls were paper thin.not even a proper party wall.

  • Older travelers

We liked the food and the location. The room was well appointed aand the bed was comfortable.

We were a bit disappointed that there were no hand towel, or a shower. Particularly, though, there was hardly enough hot water even though we left the heater on for quite a long time. My wife would have liked a mirror to the dressing table as there wasn't sufficient room for all her 'bits and pieces' in the bathroom.

  • Older travelers

Staff could not have been more friendly and accommodating. Food in restaurant so good and menu quite varied, so we didn't bother to go out in evenings for dinner. In fact, we were enjoying our stay (and the local area) so much, we extended a further day. The main building is very old (4-500 years in parts) so be prepared for interesting wavy up'n'down floors in the bedroom ... can only comment on the one room we occupied (No6). Finally, prices (thru were very reasonable, especially for that part of the UK (W. Sussex).

  • Older travelers

Friendly and polite staff who were most welcoming and went out of their way to assist whenever thry could.

The bar's cooler was noisy given its close proximity to the bedrooms. Some shielding needed

  • Older travelers

Nice staff, excellent location, comfortable bed, quiet night, excellent cooked breakfast included

Only full fat milk available for breakfast or coffee; no bin (why?) so breakfast buffet table soon looked scruffy

  • Older travelers

well situated in West Sussex for touring

  • Group of friends

Little hot at night as coudln't open the window and get it to stay so had to prop open but minor issue .

  • Older travelers

Convenience to main sites. friendly staff.

Outside door to a balcony could not be locked so feeling of insecurity day and night. Tired decor. Small things, no hook in bathroom, no handle on shower. No thorough cleaning.

  • Older travelers

Friendliness of the staff and good quality food

  • Older travelers

The Inn was convenient for the purposes of our stay and good value for money.
